STITCH IN TIME

A significant pest in museums, the varied carpet beetle can take between one to three years to develop from larvae to adult, depending on its environmental conditions. Feeding on the keratin and chitin of natural fibres such as dead insects, animal hair and feathers, for the duration of its development, it then undertakes a period of dormancy prior to pupation into adulthood.
