MERRICK'S HOOD

Joseph Carey Merrick (1862-1890) was also known as the Elephant Man, arguably the most famous human exhibit of all time. He wore a hood to mask himself from the public and they from him. The exterior of MERRICK’S HOOD displays words said to or written about him (including those of Sir Frederick Treves), but when illuminated from within, Merrick’s own eloquent words shine through.
